D-GUARD ESEE CANDIRU CAST ALUMINUM

This was a super fun project - casting an aluminum D-Guard onto the ESEE Candiru, a fantastic small fixed blade. The candiru's skeletonized handle is perfect for the process as the aluminum flows into the voids and attaching the casting once it cools. It was difficult to get the knife perfectly aligned with the new handle ( I didn't) but it was pretty close. The D-Guard is meant for three fingers to keep it proportional with blade, too big would look weird. The new handle is comfortable, unadorned and begs to be held. The blade was coated - it is carbon steel - but the coating cooked off and the blade needed to be stripped and blued to prevent rust.
